The nominees for Best Supporting Actress are:
Berenice Bejo - The Artist
Jessica Chastain - The Help
Melissa McCarthy - Bridesmaids (right)
Janet McTeer - Albert Nobbs
Octavia Spencer - The Help
As much as I'd love to see Melissa McCarthy win - not because Bridesmaids was as good as everyone seemed to think it was, but because she seems like someone I really want to be drinking buddies with - I'm pretty sure the Oscar will go to Octavia Spencer. And I'm fine with that. She's great in The Help, giving more depth to what could have been just another "sassy Black woman" role.
I don't know anything about Berenice Bejo. Ugh...I get that The Artist is supposed to be "THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME EVER EVEN THOUGH IT'S SILENT!" according to All The Critics, but I'm just not in the mood for it. At some point I'll see it, but until then all my predictions for categories in which it's nominated will have to be based upon the preconceived notion that it's French...which means it's good that it's not up against any German movies (WWII humor!). Also, I have not seen Albert Nobbs. Honestly, it looks depressing, and the premise seems implausible. And all early signs point to Spencer taking it home, so that's my call folks.
Check out the nominations in all categories here.

My favorite thing about you is that you make education decisions. Though in this case, we're in agreement - about the Oscar going to Octavia anyways. She earned it (though not by a wide margin) and I'm happy to see her recognized. Could've easily gone to any of the others though (well not Janet McTeer bc drag is only for RuPaul), especially Berenice Bejo. Go see The Artist. If I have to sit through Woody Allen, you can sit through "silent." :)
If I'm going to see a French film, it might as well be silent. I will eventually see "The Artist," and I'm sure it will be amazing.
